The coming Death of Simon's Board?
by Mindchild inis there a cure for the cancer that is growing on this board?
i discuss this below and think there is and maybe you will like it.
if you didnt know it already, im a veteran of web-based communities and i can trace my virtual roots to living in the first generation of online hangouts (which were direct dialup electronic bulletin boards before the web was around) like the well and echo.

Questions about Athletic Activities while a JW
by AjaxMan inhi, everyone.. on my researches about the jdubs.
i read that they are restricted or forbidden from engaging in activities such as sports, working out in a gym or in martial arts.. i, who does all three, have a question for the members of this forum:.
when you were a jw, could you do any of the three activities mentioned?.

Thirdson, I know one that turned down a basketball scholarship. Stupid. He did it because he was interested in a girl, not for any other reason that I know of. He certainly didn't pioneer or anything like that.
Ajaxman, I actually dug out the JWs and Education brochure just to see what it said on higher education. There's only one reference, as follows:
"Unemployment, affecting both rich and poor lands, often threatens young peope who are insufficiently qualified. Therefore, if the job market calls for training in addition to the minimum rquired by law, it is up to the parents to guide their children in making a decision about supplementary education, weighing both the potential benefits and the sacrifices that such additional studies would entail."
Course it may require an interpreter to explain to a teacher or counselor what 'supplementary education' means.

Thirdson the old "School" brochure was replaced in 1995 by "Jehovah's Witnesses and Education." Interestingly enough, the new brochure does not even mention sports or participation in organized athletics. Personally I've known Witness kids that played football, basketball, soccer, golf and tennis in school. For the most part, no one said anything. I know one CO told the body of elders that it was none of their business if a particular kid wanted to play tennis, he was good enough he was thinking about going pro.

Your ideas about a disaster at WTS headquarters
by Mindchild infor the last few days i've been involved in putting a post together for this board that has been growing and growing because one idea led to another, etc.
(i really got to stop drinking so much caffeine) anyway i'm at a point where i would appreciate some feedback.. the sept 11 terrorist attack got me thinking about what would happen if there was a major physical disaster at either ny headquarters or bethel.
i'm talking about say a horrific accident or terrorist act that leaves many witnesses dead and injured.

Just Seen Harry Potter
by Englishman inbrilliant!.
sorry couldn't find the earlier thread re hp.
but what a film eh?

I thought the Harry Potter movie was a little flat, not much substance, but it was pleasant enough. I guess you shouldn't look a real epic.
Just read the whole Lord of the Rings sexology? again. Lot's of words but it still is fascinating. I hope the film lives up to it's potential. A little disconcerting that the son is so opposed to the movie.

JohnJBB123,
Like I said, delusions of grandeur. A couple of guys talking to each other is Arizona is not a "human rights" orgainzation. You're beating such a dead horse hear that it's pathetic. But if it makes you feel important, go for it. As far as 'helping people' get real, this doesn't even approach the significance of a fart in a whirlwind and leaning on the UN is a joke.

What "human rights" organization is this? I can think of no reason whatsoever for withholding identification. Sounds like someone with delusions of grandeur beating their gums.

I've been on a considerable number of JCs, only one resulted in disfellowshipping. The one was a multiple adulterer with a demonstrated history of lying. Generally speaking, the brothers leaned over backwards to find repentance. I know of several brothers that spent sleepless nights both before and after these cases and shed quite a few tears as well. Not to say that all cases are like the ones I've seen, Hillary Step is certainly right when he says it depends on where you are and who you get.

Report on meeting with PO
by freeman inhello all, i think you will find this interesting:.
well the meeting took place and i have to say it had a few surprises.
one of the biggest surprises was that it was truly non-confrontational in every respect.

I would very much like to see the article on high level of risk in childbirth for JWs. Can you tell me where to find it?

I'm glad to know they have recognized the error of their ways and ceased their sinful activity. That's an indication of repentance. Now I think they need to lose their privileges and be restricted in their activities for a while so they can restore their relationship with Jehovah.
